EAS Transport Planning were commissioned to carry out a Transport Assessment for a change of use from office to educational, within the London Borough of Wandsworth.
The building is currently used as administrative offices and it is proposed that the building undergo a change of use to educational which will allow the neighbouring School to improve its existing facilities.
The Transport Assessment looked at existing travel patterns and the site was shown to be well located for both walking and cycling and public transport links.
The proposed increase in pupil numbers and resultant increase in the numbers of children walking and cycling, was found to have a positive impact on the soft travel plan measures being promoted by the school.
An assessment of the impact of school related vehicle trips on the local highway was undertaken based on parking beat surveys. It was found that the predicted level of drop-offs and parking was not expected to cause any capacity issues.
An assessment of trip rates indicated that the number of car trips associated with the school extension was lower than the B1 office trips should the building be fully occupied
Overall the change of use of the building was shown to be a good opportunity to extend the existing school facilities and provide for additional pupils in a sustainable location.
