EAS are providing transportation, highways and flooding advice to Mid-Suffolk District Council, working within a team of consultants to provide input to the Area Action Plans; being put forward as part of the emerging Mid Suffolk Local Development Framework.
Advice has included master-planning advice on transport and flooding issues on a number of individual sites including regeneration of the Stowmarket Station Quarter and two greenfield sites to be consulted upon as major allocation sites for housing and mixed use development.
In addition the consultant team undertook appraisals for 30 potential site allocations for the Action Area Plan for Stowmarket and surrounding villages on behalf of the Local Development Framework policy team.
EAS were commissioned to undertake an independent report of potential infrastructure costs particularly addressing known or assessable abnormal costs for each of the potential site allocations. The report established:
i. The site constraints.
ii. Abnormal site specific costs which included: access, flooding & drainage, utilities, and other issues.
iii. Site specific costs deliverable offsite which included highway improvement or alterations, and local pedestrian & cycle facilities.
iv. Cross-town infrastructure costs to which all developments are required to contribute which included transport initiatives such as new bus routes and pedestrian and cycle enhancements.
The advice has helped inform the Area Action Plan site selection process and town infrastructure bid.
