Residential Development for 24 units of social housing

EAS was commissioned to prepare a Transport Statement for a proposed residential development of 24 flats with 17 car parking spaces.

The Transport Statement was prepared with regard to the DfT Guidance on Transport Assessments (March 2007) and taking into account scoping discussions with the London Borough of Waltham Forest.

The site was already used for a small amount of social housing including significant parking.  Waltham Forest was concerned about the impact of new development on existing levels of on-street parking.

A site specific PTAL was calculated which demonstrated a PTAL of 1 which is very poor.

A comprehensive survey was undertaken of on-street parking.  Also use was made of DCLG research into parking need to demonstrate that there was sufficient off-street parking to meet the expected needs of the development with some small amount of on-street visitor parking.

The site was subsequently granted planning permission for 24 residential units.
